About the Course

The Postgraduate Program in Science and Mathematics Education (PPGECM) at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Professional Master’s (MP) level, began its activities in 2020 aiming to contribute to the training of research, critical and reflective teachers, who give new meaning to the teaching and learning process with a view to improving Science and Mathematics Education in Basic Education. The PPGECM has a multidepartmental and intercampus organization and involves the UFV-Viçosa and UFV-Florestal campuses.


The Department of General Biology (DBG), the Department of Education (DPE), the Department of Chemistry (DEQ), the Department of Mathematics (DMA) and the Department of Physics (DPF) participate in the PPGECM, at Campus Viçosa; on the Florestal Campus, the Institute of Biological and Health Sciences (IBF), the Institute of Human and Social Sciences (IHF) and the Institute of Exact and Technological Sciences (IEF).


The course is expected to last 4 (four) semesters, with face-to-face classes offered on both campuses, from Monday to Thursday in the evening and on Fridays and Saturdays, full-time, according to the offering of subjects in each semester.


During the course, in addition to completing course credits, the student must develop a final work in the form of a dissertation, containing a bibliographical review and a product of an educational nature.
